What is PRP for Tear Troughs?

PRP is a cutting edge procedure that uses the body’s own natural healing agents, PRP and growth factors that are derived from your own blood. The platelet rich plasma contained in your blood contains growth factors which stimulate the production of collagen and tissue regeneration. The PRP is a quick, minimally invasive procedure, which involves the application of the PRP into your skin to recreate a more youthful look. The healing properties of PRP have been well studied, established and used extensively in other medical procedures for years.

How does PRP for Tear Troughs work?

PRP is a procedure which utilizes  Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM) which is carefully injected into strategic areas of the eyes to reduce wrinkles, add youthful volume and improve the overall quality of the skin. PRP plumps skin, fills out existing tissue, and facilitates the growth of new deep tissue including collagen and new fatty tissue. PRP is not a filler and will not fill in deep hollows but rather improve the skin. We LOVE to use PRP before fillers to prepare the skin if fillers are needed. PRP is fantastic for softening dark circles because of the neovascularization.

What is the procedure for PRP Tear Troughs?

A small amount of blood is drawn and processed in a special centrifuge. The processing separates the platelets from the blood. A topical anesthetic is applied to the tear trough area. Then we inject the nutrient rich platelets and growth factors back into you to increase volume and rejuvenate your eyes. There is quick healing and long lasting results. The results are a more youthful, natural looking eyes.
