Laser Hair Removal in Kingston, NY
Since the late 90's, Laser Hair Removal is proven to be the most effective method for permanent hair reduction. At Medical Aesthetics of the Hudson Valley, work with a trained Laser Hair Removal specialist and member of ASLMS, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.

- No more shaving or waxing.
- Say goodbye to painful, itchy ingrowns.
- Enjoy long-lasting results.
How does Laser Hair Removal work?
The laser carefully targets the melanin (color) of each hair inside it's follicle. The heat from the laser damages the surrounding structure of the follicle and makes it difficult for new hair to grow.
What are the results?
Laser Hair Removal means permanent hair reduction. Expect 70 to 90% reduction in the amount of hair you have pre-treatment.
Although we cannot guarantee 100% removal, most clients achieve a significant reduction in unwanted hair. Touch-ups are necessary.
Who is a candidate for Laser Hair Removal?
Treatments are available for both men and women. The ideal candidate has light skin and dark hair, but almost everyone is a potential candidate. We have a variety of lasers to treat almost all skin types. Please contact us for a consultation.
Laser Hair Removal for Darker Skin
When treating dark-skinned patients, we use the 1064nm Nd:YAG laser. This laser is least absorbed by the melanin pigment in the skin, but is able to sense melanin in the hair shaft.
How do I prepare for Laser Hair Removal?
Avoid direct sun exposure: stop tanning, using tanning beds, or tanning creams. Tanned skin can effect how the laser is absorbed. Please shave for 1 month before your treatment (please stop waxing and plucking). Please don't pluck, wax, pick, rub or scrub at hairs. Gentle cleansing is recommended.
How many sessions are recommended?
Depending on skin tone and the location of the hair we are treating, 6 to 8 sessions spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart are suggested.
Does Laser Hair Removal hurt?
Laser Hair Removal feels most like a hot rubber-band snap. Application of an ice pack prior to treatment is helpful. If desired, a topical numbing agent is provided.
Is there any down time?
After Laser Hair Removal, you can return to your normal routine. You may experience mild redness or swelling. This is perfectly normal and will subside within an hour. After treating large areas, such as legs or bikini, you may feel as though you have a sunburn. Use an ice pack or aloe vera if needed. Wear a high SPF sunblock and avoid direct sun exposure and tanning booths after treatment.
